What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of more than 100 naturally occurring chemical compounds, known as cannabinoids, that are found in the cannabis plant. Other cannabinoids include CBG, CBN and the most famous, THC, the cannabinoid found in marijuana that makes people feel “high”. It’s important to note, while CBD and THC are both cannabinoids, the main difference is that CBD does not make people feel “high”.

Similar to the fact that cannabinoids come in many varieties, the cannabis plant also has a wide range of varieties. Two of the more common ones are hemp and marijuana. Hemp is used as an industrial product where it is utilized to make a variety of products ranging from clothing, food and building materials. Marijuana is famous for its use as a recreational drug to make users feel “high” due to the THC found in the plant.

The main difference between hemp and marijuana is that hemp contains a large amount of CBD and an extremely low amount of THC, whereas marijuana has a very large amount of THC and low amount of CBD. Since hemp has so little THC and its industrial and commercial applications are so great, the U.S government signed into law the 2018 Farm Bill which legalized hemp at the federal level. The requirement was that plants must contain less than .3% of THC by dry weight, an amount so low that it would not be practical to use it to produce a “high” effect.

Where does the CBD in the products come from?

All products in our CBD subscription box, as well as available for sale on our member-only store, are produced from agricultural hemp. As mentioned, products that are manufactured from hemp and meet federal guidelines, are federally legal and do not have the capacity to make a user feel “high”. CBD Samples Club approves products through independent, third party certificates of analysis provided to us by our suppliers. These certificates verify product potency, cannabinoid concentrations and contaminant levels. As a result, you can feel confident about the products we carry.

What are the different ways to take CBD?

There are a variety of ways to enjoy CBD. They include tinctures (oil droplets), capsules, gummies, powders, edibles, creams, lotions, balms and many more. Our CBD subscription box provides a wide range of products that feature different ways to enjoy CBD so you can discover which ones are best for you.

How much CBD should I take or use?

All products differ in the amount of CBD contained in the product. It’s important and your responsibility to follow the manufacturer’s directions for proper use. We do recommend that you always start off slow with any CBD product by taking or using low amounts until you understand the results. You can slowly increase the amount to find the perfect serving or application for you.

The FDA has not provided a recommended daily intake for CBD.  Information presented here is not meant as a substitute for or an alternative to information from healthcare practitioners.
